Introduction

There are interesting historical stories about how the name of this district came to be Bajhang. According to a belief, while Rawal and Singh, ancestors of Bajhangi Raja, were building Darwarkot on a peak in Ranakot Chaudhari and Byasi gavis, a black smooth spectacular stone was found there. When the stone was thrown down from that coat to the river, the king repeatedly saw it sitting at the same place as before and installed the stone as Kalabhairab and worshiped it. The very high coat has been struck by lightning over time. But due to the effect of Kalbhairab, the thunderbolt became ineffective and did not cause any damage to the palace, hence the place is called Bajrang.
